Substantive editing is an in-depth edit that scrutinizes the overall content, structure, and goals of the manuscript. This type of editing requires multiple passes through the manuscript and provides suggestions on how to improve the work.

Stylistic Editing

Stylistic editing involves going through the manuscript line-by-line to improve readability and flow. This type of edit clarifies meaning, eliminates jargon, improves sentence construction, and ensures reading level and tone are appropriate for the intended audience.


What you’ll get: a basic editorial report detailing your writing style strengths and weaknesses, edits and notes in the manuscript pages, and a style guide if you don’t already have one. 

Copy Editing

Copy editing focuses on the mechanics of grammar, punctuation, spelling, usage, and style. It ensures the overall consistency and correctness of a document. Copy editing also includes suggestions to improve clarity and organization.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final read through of a typeset manuscript before it is published. It ensures that no egregious errors have been missed, and fixes errors resulting from layout.

Rates will vary depending on the type of editing requested. For larger projects, I will provide a free sample edit. This will allow you to see how I edit, and help you decide if I am the right editor for your project.
